The Hamilton City School District has a deep traditional success in the field of athletics. Since the 1920's, Hamilton has produced powerhouses in many athletic programs. Hamilton High Big Blue has a comprehensive athletic program accommodating all student interests. Besides the traditional football, basketball, and baseball teams, we have golf, swimming and diving, volleyball, softball, cross country, track and field, tennis, wrestling, bowling and soccer. Most of these same programs are also offered at the junior high level. Hamilton High "Big Blue" has an active Booster Club in addition to several parent groups supporting specific interests: band, music, and athletics. We have a first-class facility for students, athletes, and the community. The Virgil M. Schwarm Stadium is used for football games, track meets, band competitions and concerts. Hamilton High also boasts a field house, state-of-the-art computerized scoreboard, regulation-size soccer field, and the Reinbach Blue Room which houses high school football memorabilia from the last 100 years. The Board of Education raised the academic requirements higher than the state of Ohio for athletes. Along with maintaining higher grade point averages, athletes must abide by attendance policies. Hamilton High School's 1996-97 baseball team became the Ohio State Champions-Division I Baseball Team. USA Today ranked the Big Blue team #2 in the nation. The 1997-98 football team went undefeated in posting a 10-0 record. Big Blue's 1999-2000 basketball team was the Division I district champions. The cheerleading competition squad has earned five national titles.
